[WT-support] wtRotators

Try using a different com port. There may be an old TSR program you have long forgotten about that used com4 and is conflicting with the calls from WT.

  Hi Bob,

No, I am using a RS232 cable to connect the Green Heron to Com4.

  Any other thoughs?

Are you using a USB-to-Serial adapter for COM4? If it uses the Prolific device driver, it probably won't be reliable. Replace the USB-to-Serial adapter with one based on the FTDI or Eltima chipset, such as the Keyspan or Edgeport/4.

I used wtRotators from WinTest for over a year to trigger my Green Heron (GH) controller. Hitting Ctrl-F12 would trigger the GH to turn to the azimuth of the station on the log line. Then for some unknown reason, and without any reconfiguration of anything, wtRotators failed to trigger the GH. After some investigation and help from Jeff, W2FU, the father of the GH, wtRotators started working again. Then about a week later, it again failed.

In advance of the WAE contest, I did not have a chance to troubleshoot the problem, so I began the contest with the antenna simply pointed to EU. Well into the contest, I thought I'd give it a try by hitting Ctrl-F12 and, walla, the GH was triggered and the antenna turned! Then, periodically during the balance of the contest, sometimes, Ctrl-F12 would trigger the GH, and sometimes it wouldn't. BTW, there are no cables being connected or disconnected or any loose connections that I am aware of when wtRotators work or does not work with the GH. I do not seem to have any stray RF in the shack.

I am totally puzzled as to why this would be happening, and I would appreciate any ideas.
      Here is my installation:
      K3 with Acom 2000A amp
      Win XP
WinTest 4.10.0 - Radio control on Com5, Winkey on Com6
MicroHam CW Keyer with USB connection
Green Heron RT-21 connected to Com4

      Thanks, George
