Hi all

I recently created a "proof of concept" tool based on Google Maps, to
post-analyze the QSO geographical locations of a contest log.

http://f6fvy.free.fr/contestReplay/index.php

(Min requirements : 1024 x 768 pixels)

A submitted log must have a specific XML syntax which is described here :

http://f6fvy.free.fr/contestReplay/specs.html

A step-by-step guide on this page explains how to create such a file
with Win-Test, but it is applicable to any contest logger, as soon as
you can export geographical data of every QSO, and make a XML file which
complies to these specs.

Note that you can set the "persistence" of each marker displayed, to
show the propagation paths, etc. By default, 5 QSO are displayed.

Depending on the size of your file, your browser and/or your
configuration, the XML file loading can take several seconds. For
security, any submitted file must be smaller than 1 MB.

You can click on a marker to display the callsign, but I advise you to
stop the replay to do it ! Once the slider is selected (click on it) you
can also use the arrows, pgUp, pgDown, Home and End keys to navigate
thru your log (the time is displayed on the left).

<computer litterate>
Unfortunately, for now, the standard KML files (Google Earth) accepted
by Google Maps do not interpret the time tags, nor use them. That's why
I had to use this specially created XML specs, and use an external JS
slider...
</computer litterate>

Disclaimer : It has been succesfully tested several different browsers
versions (Moz, FF, IE...), but YMMV !

Have fun !
