[WT-support] ESM and exchange guessing. How to resolve the messages sequence

Let me start by saying that I haven't used WinTest for a few years.

Today I decided to participate in the IARU HF Contest (Mixed Mode).

After configuring WinTest (New Contest) and activating the ESM function, I noticed that double-clicking on a callsign  (taken from Radio 1 window)  WT automatically inserts the ITU zone, even without pressing the space bar (as request).

This sequence create me a lot of troubles: when i hit Enter WT send 599 28 and not my call forcing me to manage the QSO with the F keys.

I don't remember ever having this sequence problem in the past but we're talking about 5 or 6 years ago

My goal is:

Click on the call in the Radio 1 windows

Press “Return” and send my callsign

Press the space bar to obtain the ITU Zone (or manually enter it)

Press Return to send 599 28 and log the QSO.

I searched for a solution on the WinTest Wiki, but the only way I could find to avoid the ESM's incorrect response was to delete the (automatically) inserted report (e.g., 28).

I tried to prevent exchange guessing from working and even disable the function but I was unsuccessful.

I only operate in contest as S&P.

These are the messages in "Standard CW Messages."

F1 DE $MYCALL

F2 $SETEXCHSENT ++$RST-- $ZONE

F3 $ZONE

F4 $MYCALL

F5 $LOGGEDCALL

F6 NR?

F7 ?

F8 R UR $F2

I'm wondering where I went wrong with the program configuration.

My PC is running Win 11 and the latest version of WT 4.57 (Italian Language).

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me resolve this issue.

Best 73, IZ4MJP Franco
