This should not affect the DVK MIC input.  If it does, two sound cards will be required, one for audio recording and one for DVK.  USB sound cards are probably the easiest.  If you have a microHAM MK2R+, it already provides two sound cards, one called USB Voice Codec can be used for the Win-Test DVK, and the second called USB Audio Codec can be used for contest recording or RTTY.

If I choose line in the contest recorder records the audio signal from the transceiver, but I can not route the mic to the transceiver or record a new text message, because mic is not the input source.

The MP3SETUP dialog was added to Win-Test long after the internal DVK functions; it really should have no affect on them.  One should be able to select the DVK default recording device using the Win-Test sound card Recording Device settings:

Windows Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Device Properties -> Audio tab -> Sound recording -> Default device:  MIC.

Is this supposed to be the case because of limitation of the soundcard, is there a special technique do this or did I overlook something?

Under Windows XP, using a sound card with only a single MIC input, no LINE input, I am able to use all functions of the Connexant HD Sound Card built into my Lenovo ThinkPad at the same time with no errors (F1, Shift-F1, and contest recording all work simultaneously).  I even fired up the Windows Sound Recorder and was able to use it at the same time as well.  It's possible that sound card input sharing may not work under Windows 2000, or with certain sound card drivers.  Be sure you are using the latest available for your operating system.

In the latter case I can play a previously recorded text message using F1. But if I press Shift-F1 to record a message (which does not make much sense, since Line In is the source) I get on SOME computers: Exception in LIBDVK: waveInOpen in LIBDVK_onStartRecording: Specified resource is already allocated. - which is surprisingly, because I would expect it on either all or no computers. Any idea?

Again, it sounds like a function of the sound card driver and/or operating system version as to whether sound card input sharing is supported or not.  A third party program like Virtual Audio Cable may help, but it is complex to configure.  It's easier just to plug in a USB sound card and have two sound cards, one for DVK, one for contest recording.

Further Win-Test give the message that an error protocol will be saved. Where is this located (and named)? I could not find such a file.

I am not sure, but I would guess that it would be saved in the Win-Test installation directory.   Sort the directory list by last modified date and you should find it.

I checked this already, this was somehow my intention too. I will look further, but maybe Laurent could give a simple hint...
