An old mail from Oliver suggest to leave transceiver  off 

Early WT version didn't poll ICOM radios so the only way where to have 
TRANSCEIVER ON. After a while, first months of the year, ICOM has been 
started to be polled and until last version it worked ok, last time were 
tested with 751 and 781 in May during ARI Contest, after that no chance to 
work again.
