First, this can be problem in both ESM and NOESM modes.<div><br></div><div>Please note that the feature of automatically clearing the callsign when you move the VFO in S&P mode can be <i>disabled</i> in the <a href="http://docs.win-test.com/wiki/Menu:Windows#Band_Map_properties" target="_blank">Radio 1 (Bandmap) Properties</a> window. <div>
<br></div><div>Just uncheck "Wipe the QSO".</div><div><br></div><div>Of course, when doing normal S&P up and down the band, it is handy to leave that option checked, to automatically fill in the bandmap and reduce keystrokes (no need to press Ctrl-Enter).</div>
<div><br></div><div>Yes it would be nice if Win-Test took care not to erase a QSO line if a QSO was made, but in a contest like CQ WW, with the zone automatically filled in when a callsign is entered, it is not quite as simple as looking for a filled-in exchange.</div>
<div><br></div><div>Perhaps Win-Test could set a flag if the F2 (exchange) message is ever sent on a frequency. If that flag is set, the callsign would not be automatically cleared when you move the VFO, even if the "Wipe the QSO" option is checked.</div>
<div><br></div><div>This new internal flag would have to be reset whenever you logged the QSO, or manually cleared the QSO with F11 or Alt-W, or pressed Ctrl-Enter to manually put the station in the band map without logging a contact (or pressed Alt-Enter to load it into the partner window).</div>
<div><br></div><div>Still, it is not completely trivial to get this right. What happens if there is <i>nothing</i> in the logging window, and you <i>accidentally</i> press F2? Should the flag be set? If so, the next callsign that you enter would <i>not</i> be automatically put into the bandmap when you turned the VFO knob, so the behavior would appear inconsistent.</div>
<div><br></div><div>And you can't just set the flag when a callsign is filled in, because some guys just quickly press F4 to call and F2 to send the exchange, and <i>then</i> they type in the callsign.</div>
<div><br></div><div>In sum, it's a lot easier for a human to figure out what happened on a frequency than Win-Test, because the human heard what happened. Win-Test does not have any way to automatically figure out if a QSO was completed.</div>
