on the other and I guess you could call it a converter since it replaces Yaesu
parts FIF232C and CT-62.</FONT></DIV>

since this is working now I am not even going to bother to try to figure it

What transistors and resistors? Are you using some type of level
converter? Isn't it possible to go straight from the RS-232 connector on
your PC to the CAT connector of your FT-1000D, or are you using some type of
"converter box" in between?<BR><BR>What kind of cable are you using to connect
your PC to your FT-1000D? Is there any continuity between pins 4
or 7 on the DB9 connector and <I>any </I>PIN on the CAT connector, or the
shell? There should be no connection. Pins 4 and 7 should not be
grounded, and they should not be shorted to each other

HANDSHAKE.</FONT></DIV>

that I have as well and I will check into that first chance I

difference. The DTR (DE-9 pin 4) and RTS (DE-9 pin 7) lines are not
connected to the 6 PIN CAT connector, are they? Are they shorted

versatility of external computer control of the FT-1000, a facility to read
back only the current memory number, <SPAN

or specified memory parameters has been added to EPROM Q5003 on the Control
Unit, from revision 6.0.<BR><BR>"The installed EPROM revision number can be
non-destructively checked by holding the 1 and 3 keys at the upper corners
of the keypad while switching on. The revision number appears after
the display test and manufacturer ID display. If your revision is
below 6.0, contact your Yaesu dealer for availability and price of the
upgrade."<BR><BR>Perhaps Win-Test assumes the FT-1000D is at EPROM revsion
6.0 or higher, and will not read frequencies accurately if the radio has the
